So come let us focus on a few methods on how to fix whatsapp backup stuck in both android and iphones.

How to Fix WhatsApp Backup Stuck Issue

Update the whatsapp

Whatsapp app developers usually releases new updates ones in a while to fix problems and to fix bugs in the app. So it is important to have the app updated when a new update is out. Updates will roll out on both android smartphones and in iphones.
To check if there are new updates, simply go to the playstore in your android or the app store in your iphone and move on to the ‘update’ section and download the latest built update on your mobile. So if it were any bugs that actually made your backup stuck then updating the app would correct it and work without any errors.

Leave the whatsapp beta program

If you have the whatsapp beta program in your mobile and find it difficult or having problems with the backup process with the installed build on the device then you better chose the stable build leaving behind the beta program.

To get it done in iphone,

Open the ‘TestFlight app’ > ‘Whatsapp’ and then select the ‘leave beta program’ option from the menu.

In android smart device,

Open the ‘playstore’ > ‘Whatsapp’ and the press on the ‘leave the beta program’ option.

Use strong internet connection

When the whatsapp backup process starts, it will literally include all the messages, files, Medias and everything that is in the app. So in that case the size of the backup file will be in GB, which would need a good internet connection for the process to work accurately.

Have your phone connected to a strong network with a good network strength. Mobile data wouldn’t be a better option for this. If you are having a dual band router, check if your phone would support the 5GHz wifi band, and if it does then connect it to it. So that the backup would be faster and would not stuck half the way.

Reset your iphone’s network settings

If in case you have by mistake overwrite the network settings then it would end up the whatsapp backup process to stuck. This can be fixed by resetting the network settings of your smartphone.

To get it done, open the ‘settings’ app of your phone and move on to ‘General’ and the select the ‘Reset’ and then tap on ‘Reset Network Settings’.

Now the settings will be back to the way it was and this could help you with the backup procedure without any problems.

Check your iphone’s iCloud storage

Everything in the iPhone is literally stored in the iCloud, including the whatsapp. And the iCloud only provides 5 GB of free storage for the apple account users and if you want more you have to purchase it. So this could be a reason for why your whatsapp backup is not working properly. To get all the data backup you have to need more storage space in the iCloud, if it is running out of low storage then the backup won’t take place.

To check on the iCloud storage move on to the iPhone settings app > profile > iCloud and there you will have the details of the remaining storage.

You have to purchase more iCloud storage if the remaining space is lower than the whatsapp backup file size. If you wish you can also remove the previous iCloud backups to bring in space.

Server’s down in either google drive or iCloud

If there are any server side problem then there are much possibilities for the backup process to show errors. To check on your servers, if you are using an iphone then visit the ‘Apple system status page’ and check if the icloud is running accurately from the server’s side.

For the android users do check out the ‘Google cloud status’ and make a check on the google cloud storage.

Excluding the videos from backup file

When using the whatsapp, we would have joined plenty of groups and have has loads of chats. The members of the groups will forwards images and videos either useful or not and those media files will hold up a big space when you try to backup. So if you consider that the videos aren’t necessarily needed then you can easily exclude them from the backup process.

This settings is available in whatsapp itself, to get it done go to the ‘settings’ of your phone and head on to ‘chat’ > ‘backup’ > and there exclude the videos. The same procedure can be followed for both iphone and android.

Delete the existing iCloud backup in your iphone

If you don’t want the existing icloud backup, then you can delete them off and backup the whatsapp data from the scratch.

Go to the ‘iphone settings’ > ‘profile’ > iCloud’ > ‘iCloud backup’ > ‘delete the existing backup on icloud’. Then move to the ‘whatsapp’ > ‘settings’ > ‘chat’ > and then start the backup process.

Clean the whatsapp cache in android

Your android would have stored in all the whatsapp cache in it, you can clean them off from your device to have a better whatsapp backup process.

To get this done, you have to long tap on the whatsapp icon and open the app info, then move on to the storage and cache and tap on the ‘clear cache’. This will boost up your whatsapp for a better performance in backup.

Update the google playstore services in your android

We all know that the google playstore is an important feature and the app that plays a great role in all the android smart devices to run many services accurately in the background.

So the google playstore could also have the problem for the whatsapp backup process to stuck, thereby update your google playstore and then move in to the whatsapp and try the backup process.

Reboot your device

If there are any bugs or niggles in your phone then it can literally lead to stuck and some errors, in that case rebooting the device can solve the problem for you by fixing all the unknown bugs. To do that in your iphone, restart it by pressing together the volume up/down button with the power button. In android press on the power button for a few second and then select restart from the sliding menu.
