How To Pair Your Computer With Your iPhone Or Android

To lock your PC using your smartphone, you have to first pair both the devices together using the Bluetooth before activating the Dynamic Lock. So to do that, first you have to check the strength of the Bluetooth in your iPhone or android smartphone. So to start with, turn on the Bluetooth in your smartphone by going to the ‘Settings’ of your phone and then click on the ‘Bluetooth’option. There your phone can be discovered if the Bluetooth is turned on.

Now in your Windows computer, to start pairing you have to go to the ‘Settings’ and then select the option ‘Device’ and choose ‘Add Bluetooth Or Other Devices’. There click on the ‘Bluetooth’ to pair your PC with your smartphone. This process might take a few seconds to list down the Bluetooth devices that are available. If your phone Bluetooth is on discoverable mode, your phone name will be available in the list of the Bluetooth devices, select your phone and when it is prompted enter the code which will be matching on both your PC and the smartphone.

Then when your devices are paired together, make sure the Bluetooth connectivity on both your Windows 10 PC and the smartphone is active.

Next, on your Windows 10 PC you have to go to the ‘Settings’ app. You can click on the Start Menu and select the ‘Settings’ button to go there quickly.

Then click the ‘Accounts’ option.

From the ‘Accounts’ page, you have to select the ‘Sign-in’ option which is available on the left side and then from the right side slide down and you will see the ‘Dynamic Lock’ section.

Now the Windows 10 PC will explain how it can use the devices that are paired to your PC to know when you are away and lock the PC when those device would go out of range. Then you have to tick on the box beside ‘Allow Windows To Automatically Lock Your Device When You Are Away’ and now the Windows 10 PC will turn on the Dynamic Lock feature.

When the Dynamic feature is enabled successfully, you would see the Bluetooth device the Windows 10 computer is paired with. If you don’t see the Dynamic Lock option then it should be because your PC is not upgraded with the Creator’s update.

If you find it unable to tick on the box then your phone isn’t paired with the Bluetooth, it can be due to a problem in the Bluetooth driver. To correct the error you should reinstall the driver or update it.

Now to fix the Bluetooth driver problem, move on to the ‘Device Manager’ then select ‘Bluetooth’ and choose the appropriate driver. Then you got to uninstall the driver , then confirm the action and restart the system.

Now the operating system will eventually reinstall the driver when the system reboots. Or else you can also install it by heading on to the manufacturer’s support website. If you find the driver is out dated then you have to update it as well from the same settings for it to work accurately. To get that done, simply right click on the driver and press the ‘Update’ option. Simple as that.

Also note that there is no other options for you to configure the Dynamic Lock in your PC and you can’t also choose which device the Dynamic Lock depend on if the PC is connected to two or more Bluetooth connections. So make sure to get it done in the utmost manner.

That’s it, now you can check if the Dynamic Lock is working accurately on your PC, to do that you have to simply take your phone and walk away from your PC and then your PC will automatically lock itself after 30 seconds or a minute of time. The time for the Windows PC to lock will depend on the strength of the Bluetooth signal and thereby it may vary on different devices. So when the PC is locked, you can turn off the Bluetooth from your smartphone as the PC cannot detect it anymore.

Note that the Dynamic Lock in the Windows 10 PC does not have the ability to automatically unlock your PC, you have to manually sign in as you do usually.
